Travel Cards: what's behind it

Everything began by an idea, and a commitment.

The idea, is that, everywhere on earth, you can be so close to someone that may appear at first as a perfect stranger. Everywhere on earth are people laughing, crying, sharing, screaming, being pround, fighting for ideas, and ideals. I believe there is no better way of growing up than sharing with people, from every country in the world. This sharing may be so intense, and diverse: from politics to music, from learning a language to teaching a new sport, from tasting new food to showing a movie. This is the best way to create a better understanding of the world, of people reactions, of different way of living.

The commitment is more pragmatic. I believe in the beauty of writing, in the beauty of the time someone will take to buy a postcard, to write it, to stick a stamp, to go to the mail office and send it. Then, there are still days before the letter arrive. Do you remember the feeling of receiving a letter, of opening the enveloppe and discovering, finally, the picture, the writing, the words? This is time consuming, this is about being patient, learning how to wait, dealing with expectations. This is life, in a way. I hope this experiment will work. It is try, a game, without any expectation for anything else than having pleasure to know that part of our hometown lives now in someone else house.

Follow the steps!

In order to do it right, please follow the steps of our big adventure...

1) Enjoy the surprise and give yourself a nice treat, thinking about the city someone offered to you through the postcard.

2) Write something about your city: something you like, a place you really enjoy, a nice memory, a tale about the city, whatever pleases you.

3) Select a postcard from your city, and someone you know to send to him

4) Send an email at **** with the name of your own city (where the postcard was sent), the date you receive the postcard, your writing about your city, and the place the postcard will arrive next. If you want, you can also send a picture (of you, of your city, of the postcard you receive).

5) Keep the postcard you receive with you, and send the new one to a lucky friend,
by copying the text written on the postcard (you can obviously write whatever you want after that).

Following the (Post)Cards

The first postcard left Paris (France) and should arrive pretty soon to its first destination... Ripon, WI (USA). First writing, too, about the city.

Paris (France) - Arrival to Ripon:
There is so much to say about Paris. I decided to speak about a really small and delightful bar, close to the Museum Georges Pompidou (Museum of Modern Art), called l'Art Brut. You go there more for the atmosphere than for anything else, for the paintings on the wall, the French instrumental songs you can hear, while enjoying a cold beer and some bread, "charcuterie" and cheese. Perfect after a day exploring the museum, or after a long afternoon working in the library close by.
